Beach Gold sets course record in KY Downs Preview Mint Millions Turf
August 2, 2025

Beach Gold had quite an afternoon in winning the $250,000 Kentucky Downs Preview Mint Millions Turf Aug. 2 at Ellis Park. Not only did the 4-year-old Omaha Beach colt set a course record in the one-mile race, he also earned a fees-paid berth in Kentucky Downs’ $2.5 million The Mint Millions Inv. (G3) on Sept. 6.
Beach Gold is Omaha Beach’s 13th stakes winner this year, tops among all Third-Crop sires. Omaha Beach’s $6.7 million in progeny earnings is $1.8 million above his closest pursuer.
After showing speed in his several previous races, Beach Gold was positioned near the back of the pack for the first six furlongs. He launched his bid just outside the quarter pole, first splitting horses at the top of the stretch, then diving to the inside for clear running. He was fifth and full of run with a furlong to go and slipped through along the rail to take command in the final 100 yards, winning by three-quarters of a length over stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Epic Ride.
The final time was a track record 1:31.76 on the firm turf.
“My dad did a fantastic job prepping this horse, sent him to me in perfect condition,” said trainer Patrick Biancone’s daughter and assistant Andie. “The way he rallied today, perfectly timed for Keith (jockey Asmussen), I feel like it’s a dream come true.”
Beach Gold has now won three straight races and is 4-2-3 in 13 overall starts. He has earned $293,895 for owner/breeder JSM Equine LLC.
