Destino d’Oro unleashed a furious rally to come from ninth at the top of the Gulfstream Park turf stretch to win the $500,000 Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf Inv. (G2) by a half-length over Crevalle d’Oro.

The newly turned Bolt d’Oro 4-year-old was facing older horses for the first time in her career after winning the Dec. 13 Tropical Park Oaks over the same track and distance and in similar come-from behind fashion.

Breaking from post three, Destino d’Oro was last of 12 the first time under the finish line and was some eight lengths from the front after the first half-mile. She made up some ground on the final turn, but still had most of the field in front of her at the top of the stretch. She moved outside in the clear and flew through the final furlong to earn her third career stakes win.

“We broke and I knew she was probably going to come from off the pace,” said winning rider Junior Alvarado. “I thought I’m a little too far back having this much horse, so I’m going to have to start picking it up soon. When I switched leads at the three-quarter pole and was getting close at the five-eighths pole, I couldn’t believe how much horse I had underneath me. She came with a helluva run at the end.”

Owned by Steve Landers Racing LLC, Destino d’Oro is 5-0-1 in eight starts and has earned $829,884. She was bred in Kentucky by Hurstland Farm, Inc. & James H. Greene Jr. and sold to her owner for $185,000 at the 2024 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale.

“The goal would be to give her a shot in a big race like the Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland this spring,” trainer Brad Cox said. “We’ll probably need one more run before than, and since she ran well here, maybe she’ll have a race here before that.”

A top-10 sire in each of his first four seasons, Bolt d’Oro is off to another hot start in 2026, with two stakes winners and 17 individual winners this month. He is standing in 2026 for $25,000 S&N.
