Into Mischief’s 2025 total stakes winners now stands at 26, including 17 graded winners, after both Consequent and Sneaky Good tallied their first stakes victories on Dec. 6.
Consequent, a Juddmonte homebred 2-year-old filly, was the “star” of the day with her victory in the Starlet (G2) at Los Alamitos. Sneaky Good, another 2-year-old distaffer, took the Sandpiper S. at Tampa Bay Downs.
Consequent, with just one prior start before Saturday’s 1 1/16-mile contest, was third most of the trip, sitting on the rail behind a pair of dueling leaders. Turning for home, Consequent came off the fence several paths and also lost several lengths on the leaders. With a determined run down the long stretch, Consquence got the lead in the final sixteenth and won by a length in 1:44.03 on a fast track.
“That looked pretty good right there,” said Bob Baffert’s assistant trainer Mike Marlow. “[Consequent] needed all that stretch for sure. She’s still pretty green. She was tough to saddle, but she’s going to figure it out. She’s going to be good and it looks like more distance will be even better for her.”
With two wins in as many starts, Consequent has earned $156,000.
In Florida, Sneaky Good came from further off the pace after a bit of a tardy start, but made up good ground in the middle stages, then asserted herself in the stretch to win by 2 ¾-lengths while getting the six furlongs in 1:10.70.
Like Consequent, Sneaky Good is 2-for-2, with earnings of $124,790 for owners NK Racing and LNJ Foxwoods. Sneaky Good was bred by Andrew Warren and sold for $450,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September sale.
