September 14, 2026
Champion Forte made a big splash with his first-ever Keeneland yearling on Monday when hip No. 27 sold for $800,000 to Greenwell Thoroughbreds, LLC.
Four Star Sales, agent for breeder Spendthrift Farm, was the consignor for chestnut colt.
The Kentucky-bred is the second foal out of the Malibu Moon mare Sianara, who is a half-sister to Forbidden Kingdom, winner of a trio of Grade 2 events and runner-up in the Malibu S. (G1).
Second dam Just Louise took the Debutante S. (G3) at Churchill Downs at two, and she in turn is a half-sister to three-time graded winner Sara Louise.
Forte finished the first day of the marathon sale with an average of $511,667 from three lots sold, more than 10 times his bred-on stud fee.
Forte was won of the most accomplished 2-year-old champions in history, winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), Breeders’ Futurity (G1) and the Hopeful S. (G1). He would go on to win the Florida Derby (G1) and Jim Dandy S. (G2) at three and earned over $3 million.
Forte has 85 lots remaining in the sale that runs through Sept. 26.
