First-Crop sire Free Drop Billy began the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training with a bang when hip No. 222, his sire’s first offering, brought a top bid of $230,000.
Bred by Mullikin Thoroughbreds and consigned by Wavertree Stables, the colt went to Yoshimasa Ema.
The bay Kentucky-bred is the second foal out of the Bodemeister mare Buy For Less, who is a daughter of stakes winner Ayla Bella and a half-sister to stakes-placed Lucky For You.
Free Drop Billy has six lots remaining the current sale, which runs daily through Friday.
A Grade 1 winner at both two and three at Keeneland, Free Drop Billy will have his first career starter at the historic Kentucky track on April 20 when Bourbon Therapy goes postward in a 4 ½-furlong maiden special weight race.
