Into Mischief colt begins Derby quest with easy win in Japan’s Cattleya S.

Satono Voyage (JPN) earned his first 10 points on the Road to the 2026 Kentucky Derby (G1) with a victory in the $194,621 Cattleya S. Nov. 29 at Tokyo Racecourse.
The 2-year-old son of Into Mischief won the 1,600 meter (about one mile) race by 1 ¼-lengths. He was third for the first five furlongs before moving up three-wide onto the turn to challenge for the lead three furlongs from the wire. He took over the top spot in upper stretch and despite getting challenges from both sides, he was hand-ridden to the wire, widening at the end with relative ease.
“This horse has a lot of potential and I am personally very happy to be able to train a horse of this caliber,” trainer Hiroyasu Tanaka said in a post-race press conference. “He’s by Into Mischief, whose crops do very well in the United States, and I think he has a good chance to perform well in the U.S. as well.
“Going into a race with two turns will be one of the tasks for him because he hasn’t raced over that distance so I would like to be able to condition him to handle two turns. I’ve been training top dirt horses in my stable so my next aim is to get my first win in an overseas Grade I race.”
Satono Voyage is now 3-1-0 in four starts for owner Hajime Satomi, with his prior two wins coming by a combined 15 lengths.
The winner was bred by Shimokobe Farm and is out of Brazilian Horse of the Year and three-times North American graded winner Jolie Olimpica (BRZ).
Into Mischief, who is on track to being champion sire for the seventh straight year, now has 25 stakes winners in 2025, led by presumptive 3-year-old champion Sovereignty and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner Ted Noffey. Into Mischief’s 2025 progeny earnings recently surpassed $30 million.
