Into Mischief colt much the best in Mucho Macho Man S.
January 4, 2026

Commandment threaded his way through horses at the top of the Gulfstream Park stretch, then drew off with huge strides to win the $175,000 Mucho Macho Man S. by 6 ¾-lengths.
The 3-year-old Into Mischief colt is now likely for a two-turn Kentucky Derby (G1) prep race after Saturday’s dominating performance. Commandment is the first stakes winner of the new year for Into Mischief, who is also the sire of early 2026 Derby favorite Ted Noffey.
After breaking his maiden by five lengths Nov. 1 at Churchill Downs, Commandment was made the odds-on favorite in the one-mile Mucho Macho Man. Breaking from the inside post, he settled a few lengths off a contested pace.
With several horses battling for the lead down the backstretch and into the turn, Commandment sat behind them waiting for an opening. A small one appeared just before turning for home, and Commandment shot through and quickly took the lead. He bounded away in the lane to finish in 1:38.23 on a fast track and earned a very respectable Beyer Speed Figure of 90.
“Big performance,” winning trainer Brad Cox said. “I started him off three-quarters and we thought that he would stretch out off his first run with the big gallop out in his race. We brought him along step by step–I guess furlong by furlong–and he’s responded well.”
Commandment is owned by Wathnan Racing and is now 2-0-0 in three starts and has earned $165,459.
“We’ll talk it over with the (owners) and come up with a plan, but it will definitely be around two turns,” Cox said of the colt’s next start. “We have to give him that shot. He acts like he’s going to be able to do it. Irad seemed pretty confident after the race, so we’ll see where we are.”
Commandment was bred in Kentucky by Lee Pokoik and is out of Spinaway S. (G1) winner Sippican Harbor, who is a half-sister to 2025 Sir Barton S. winner Crudo.
