Into Mischief’s Hoosier filly at her best in Monomoy Girl S.

Hoosier Philly was the easiest of winners in the $175,000 Monomoy Girl S. on June 17 at Ellis Park, cruising home by 3 ½-lengths over multiple graded stakes winner Wet Paint.
A 3-year-old daughter of Into Mischief, Hoosier Philly was purchased for $510,000 out of the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling sale. She is the first foal out of the Tapit mare Tapella.
Hoosier Philly controlled the pace from the outset of the one-mile race. She took the field through a leisurely half-mile of :48.86 and widened her lead to the winning margin around the turn. Under a hand ride with little urging down the stretch, she finished the mile in 1:36.39 on a fast track.
“She got away with a very easy opening quarter-mile but quickened up well in the lane when Edgar asked her,” said trainer Tom Amoss. “I’m so thrilled for the owners. Bill and Mary Stone are from across the river in Evansville, Indiana and Rod Ratcliff held a big role at several racetracks in Indiana. It was great to see her return to the winner’s circle and thrilled everyone could be here celebrating with us today.”
Hoosier Philly now has three stakes wins, topped by the 2022 Goldenrod S. (G2) at Churchill Downs. Her overall record is 4-1-1 from seven starts, with earnings of $644,510.
Into Mischief’s incredible run as champion General Sire over the past four years is continuing into 2023. Just after the half-way point of the year, he leads this year’s list once again by a wide margin and is on pace to potentially break his 2022 record earnings of $28,106.800.
