Into Mischief’s Point Dume in peak form in General George S.

Point Dume took control of the $200,000 General George S. Saturday at Laurel Park right from the outset and rolled home a 3 ½-length winner to give the son of Into Mischief his second career stakes win.
The 5-year-old was the second stakes winner of the day for Into Mischief. Earlier in Saudi Arabia, Imagination scored a come-from-behind victory in the $2 million Riyadh Dirt Sprint (G2).
Point Dume, who has natural early speed, maintained a one-length lead through a half-mile of :46.18. Turning for home in the long Laurel stretch, he started to pull clear and coasted under the wire in 1:23.14 for the seven furlongs on a fast track.
The victory earned him a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 103.
“He loves to be in front, and he fights every time,” said jockey Angel Cruz. “He digs in every [morning], and in the race, he digs in even harder. When he gets to the lead, he’s a different horse. He breaks, takes a hold of you, and keeps going. But today, he was really good. It was impressive.”
Point Dume is owned by the Bush Racing Stable. His lifetime record is 10-7-3 in 30 starts, with earnings of $551,900.
Bred in Kentucky by Sea Horse Breeders, Point Dume is out of Maya Malibu, a multiple Grade 1-placed mare by Malibu Moon. His second dam, Island Sand, won the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes at Belmont in 2004.
