Spendthrift Farm’s Kingsbarns, the Grade 1-winning son of Uncle Mo, sired his first reported foal on January 9th when a filly was born at Ascendant Farm in Fort Edward, NY.

The bay filly was bred by Windylea Farm NY LLC out of the young Central Banker mare Banksamillion, a half-sister to the TDN Rising Star and 2-year-old stakes winner, Shoplifted, and hailing from the immediate family of Grade 1 winner Miss Shop and Trappe Shot.

“This filly is nice. She’s a good-sized, very well-built foal—bold and sturdy,” said Heidi Fischer, manager of Ascendant Farm. “She has great bone, good conformation, and is extremely smart. Her first day out she was ready to go.”

Kingsbarns scored his biggest win in Churchill Downs’ featured $1,000,000 Stephen Foster S. (G1) and stamped himself as one of the leading older horses in North America in 2024. He also captured Keeneland’s Ben Ali S. (G3) as a 4-year-old prior to retiring with earnings of $1,559,060.

As a 3-year-old, Kingsbarns captured the $1,000,000 Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds in just his third start, becoming the first horse in 18 years to win the storied race in three or fewer lifetime starts. In his debut, Kingsbarns defeated a field that included eventual Champion 3YO Male Arcangelo in a Maiden Special Weight race at Gulfstream Park. A year prior, he was an $800,000 graduate of the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale where he breezed a quarter mile in 20.3—the fastest time by a colt at the sale.

Kingsbarns proved to be one of the top five most popular first-season stallions in North America, covering 196 mares in 2025. The Uncle Mo stallion is set to stand his second season at Spendthrift for a fee of $17,500 S&N, and he was recently recognized by Paulick Report by being named on its “All-Value Sire Team” again in 2026 for the second straight year.
