Leading First-Crop sire Yaupon scores pair of maiden special weight winners

Yaupon, the top-ranked sire on the 2025 First-Crop sire list, now has a half-dozen individual winners after Bonsai Warrior and Sav’n Money both tallied maiden special weight wins on July 13^th.

First-time starter Bonsai Warrior earned his victory at Monmouth Park in a five-furlong affair, closing strongly in the stretch to best Bod Beach by a nose. The dark bay is owned by Robert Reidy and was bred in Kentucky by Stoneview Farm Inc. Bonsai Warrior is the first foal out of Burdeos, whose siblings include millionaire Texas Chrome and Grade 2 winner Patrona Margarita.

Sav’n Money, who also won by a nose with a big rally in the stretch, was going 7 ½-furlongs on the turf. The dark bay colt races for Forge Ahead Stables LLC and was bred by Chance Farm in Virginia. Sav’n Money is a half-brother to two-time stakes winner Tufani.

Among Yaupon’s six winners is the filly Sassy C W, who triumphed in both the Prairie Gold Lassie S. and Astoria S.
