Love Cervere the 10th stakes winner of the year for Into Mischief

May 10, 2025

One week after Sovereignty gave Into Mischief his third Kentucky Derby (G1) winner, Love Cervere became her sire’s 10th stakes winner of 2025 with a rousing stretch run to win the $150,000 Take the A Train S. at Aqueduct.

Into Mischief now has 174 lifetime stakes winners and over $212 million in progeny earnings. This year, he leads the General sire list by nearly $3 million, with over $12 million to date.

Love Cervere, who placed second to the in the Jan. 5 Ginger Brew S. to three-time graded winner Nitrogen, raced near the back of the field for the first half-mile of Saturday’s six-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies. After checking off heels with about three furlongs to run, jockey Joel Rosario swung Love Cervere five-wide coming into the stretch. With clear running, she made up some eight lengths through the lane to best Hey Bertie by a neck in 1:10.25 over a good turf course.

“We tried to stretch her a little too far in the last (two) starts, but you have to try it, if you think there’s a chance they can get a mile,” said Miguel Clement, assistant trainer to his father Christophe. “She lost going [a mile] at Gulfstream in a very unlucky manner; just keep it simple bring her back to sprinting and she validated it today.”

Love Cervere was bred by Ed & Beverly Seltzer and is owned by her breeders, along with Reeves Thoroughbred Racing. Her record now stands at 2-1-0 in four starts, with earnings of $164,775.
