Maximus Mischief’s Intrepido named a ‘TDN Rising Star’

August 24, 2025

Intrepido repelled a pair of highly-regarded colts at the top of the Del Mar stretch to break his maiden by 3 ¼-lengths and earn a ‘TDN Rising Star’.

The 2-year-old son of Maximus Mischief looked very strong in the final quarter-mile. After dueling with Biggiebiggiebiggie for the first five furlongs, the Bob Baffert-trained duo of Provenance and Plutarch both made runs at Intrepido, but the bay juvenile dispatched them with a strong finish, getting the mile in 1:35.71 on a fast track.

Intrepido is owned by Dutch Girl Holdings LLC and Irving Ventures LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Siera Fria Farm, LLC, and sold to his owners for $385,000 at the 2025 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale in April.

Currently second on the 2025 Second-Crop sire list by progeny earnings, Maximus Mischief is the only Second-Crop sire with a Grade 1 winner (Raging Torrent in the Met Mile) and is tied with Vekoma with three graded winners this year.
