Mrs D and Scalene give Bolt d’Oro a weekend stakes double
October 3, 2026
Bolt d’Oro accounted for a pair of 2-year-old stakes winners over the past two days, with Mrs D and Scalene both getting their first black type wins.
Bolt d’Oro has a half-dozen stakes winners and 19 stakes horses this year and currently is second on the Fifth-Crop sire list.
Scalene kicked off the action for his sire on Oct. 2 with a front-running score in the $175,000 Bertram Bongard S. at Belmont Park. Scalene dictated the pace throughout, with Calling Mr. Mo in close pursuit for the first half-mile. Scalene shook him off in upper stretch and pulled away under a hand ride to win by 3 ¼-lengths.
Owned and bred by Marc Keller, Scalene has won both his starts and earned $159,500.
The following day at Woodbine Mrs D made her graded stakes debut in the Algonquin S. (G3) and came away a half-length winner over heavily-favored Go for Launch. Mrs D trailed through the first three furlongs of the five-eighths turf sprint before commencing her rally while four-wide turning for home. She was full of run down the lane and collared Go for Launch in the final strides to score her first stakes win.
Twice stakes-placed prior to Saturday, Mrs D is 2-1-1 in four starts and has earned $166,039 for owner JDLP Holdings Inc. The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Dixiana Farms LLC.
