New black type winners in Ireland & America for No. 1 First-Crop Sire Yaupon
September 23, 2025

No. 1 First-Crop Sire Yaupon continued his blazing start at stud on Sept. 22, siring two new black type winners on the same day—one in Ireland and one in the United States—giving him 4 black type winners and 7 black type horses already from his impressive first runners.
At Fairyhouse Racecourse in Ireland, 2-year-old filly Yaupon de Replay impressed on debut with a determined victory in the Blenheim Stakes. Bypassing the maiden ranks, the talented newcomer scored a rare listed stakes win at first asking for trainer Joseph O’Brien, who afterward said the promising filly could have a date at the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar.
Yaupon de Replay was bred by Drumkenny Farm & American Equistock Inc., and is the first foal out of the multiple stakes-placed Goldencents mare Malibu Mischief.

Just hours later in North America, Arctic Beast lived up to his name and added to his sire’s momentum with a powerhouse victory in the Aspirant S. at Finger Lakes in New York. Off as the heavy favorite, the dark bay colt parlayed his impressive debut victory at Saratoga a month ago into a 7 1/4-length shellacking of his rivals Monday, earning a stout 85 Beyer while remaining undefeated for trainer Mike Maker.
Maker purchased the talented colt for $275,000 last summer at the Fasig-Tipton NY-Breds Yearling Sale at Saratoga. Arctic Beast was bred by Rockridge Stud, LLC & Saratoga Glen Farm & Beal’s Racing Stable, LLC.
The pair of black type victories further solidify Yaupon’s position atop the First-Crop Sires List, moving his progeny earnings to more than $1.3 million to date—over half a million more than any other freshman sire in North America.
