Omaha Beach’s Caitlinhergrtness dominates Ontario Matron S. (G3)

September 14, 2025

Caitlinhergrtness earned her second graded stakes win of the year in emphatic fashion with a 3 ¼-length win in the Ontario Matron S. (G3) Saturday afternoon at Woodbine.

The 4-year-old Omaha Beach filly, who won the Belle Mahone S. (G3) over the same track in April, is one of 14 stakes winners this year for her sire. Omaha Beach is the leading Third-Crop sire of 2025 by a wide margin, with nearly $8.6 million in progeny earnings to date.

Breaking from post 10 in the 1 1/16-mile race, Caitlinhergrtness moved up to fourth while three-wide around the first turn. She was within two lengths of the lead after six furlongs in 1:13.17. Still three-wide on the final bend, she surged to the lead just before turning for home, then powered away in the stretch to win convincingly in 1:42.92.

“I just personally think she just needs two turns,” said trainer Kevin Attard. “And the way the E.P. Taylor turf course is configured (one turn), it’s not to her liking, and when she did win on the turf, it was on the inner turf course. And obviously she showed her true colors today.”

Owned by WinStar Farm LLC and bred in Canada by Jesse Korona, Caitlinhergrtness is 5-2-2 in 14 starts and has earned $891,250. She was named Canadian champion 3-year-old filly of 2024 after beating males in the King’s Plate. She sold to her owners for $375,000 at the 2023 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale.
