Omaha Beach’s Kopion among Female Sprint Eclipse Finalists

Kopion, Omaha Beach’s leading earner of 2025, was named one of three finalists for the Eclipse Award in the Female Sprinter category. The now 6-year-old, who raced in the colors of Spendthrift Farm, was retired to the farm at the end of last year.
Omaha Beach finished 2025 as the across-the-board leading Third-Crop sire, with progeny earnings of $13.6 million, 16 stakes winners and 31 stakes horses, and five graded winners.
Kopion was one of Omaha Beach’s two Grade 1 winners last year, talking the Derby City Distaff (G1) at Churchill Downs. She also won the Santa Monica S. (G2) and was second in the Clement L. Hirsch S. (G1). Kopion retired from racing with a record of 5-3-0 in 10 starts and earnings of $1,204,700.
The Eclipse Award winners will be announced during the Thursday, Jan. 22 ceremony that begins at 7:30 p.m. ET.
