Pricedtoperfection rallies for game Sweetest Chant S. (G3) score

Pricedtoperfection found an opening in just enough time to sprint between horses in deep stretch and hit the wire first in Saturday’s $100,000 Sweetest Chant S. (G3) at Gulfstream Park.
The win was the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old daughter of Temple City, who was beaten just five lengths in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) in November, and most recently second on Jan. 2 in the Ginger Brew S.
Saturday’s one-mile Sweetest Chant wasn’t without drama. After sitting well off the pace for a half-mile, Joel Rosario began to inch the bay filly up the inside on the final turn. Though she had momentum turning for home, she had to check a couple of times as the pacesetters began to back up.
Rosario tried to find space both inside and out, and finally found the opening inside the furlong pole, when his filly spurted through and claimed the victory by three-quarters of a length in 1:36.98 on the “good” turf.
“We got bothered a little bit turning for home, I went to the inside and the horse in front of me came in; I went outside and he came out,” Rosario said. “For a second, I thought I wouldn’t get through, but she handled everything. She was fighting all the way. She was game today.”
Pricedtoperfection is now 2-1-0 in her five starts and has earned $129,960. She is trained by Chad Brown for Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence.
The winner is a full sister to Miss Temple City, a stakes winner of $382,799. She was bred in Kentucky by Bobfeld Bloodstock and Joseph Creek.
Pricedtoperfection is Temple City’s second graded stakes winner and sixth overall. A top-15 sire with both his first two crops, Temple City’s progeny have earned more than $3.4 million to date.
