Reputation dominates Tyson Gilpin S. in black type debut

August 9, 2025

Bolt d’Oro’s 3-year-old filly could not have been more impressive in Saturday’s $100,000 Tyson Gilpin S. at Colonial Downs, galloping to a 6 ¾-length victory in the seven-furlong main track contest.

The bay filly was making her stakes debut following a handy allowance win on July 13 at Ellis Park, and as she did in that race, Reputation came from off the pace on Saturday. She sat midpack the first quarter-mile, moved into third into the turn, then was three-wide into the stretch to engage pacesetter Impulse Buy. Those two raced together for about a furlong, then Reputation pulled away at will to win with authority in 1:21.14 on a fast track.

“That was a dream trip,” said winning rider Javier Castellano. “[They went] 21.44, [I was] right behind the speed, saved all the ground, split horses, stepped up outside, and she cleaned up really well.”

Now 3-0-1 in six starts, Reputation has earned $158,822 for JR Ranch and MyRacehorse. The winner was bred in Kentucky by H. Steve Conboy Maple Lane Farm and sold to her owners for $450,000 at the 2024 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-old sale.

Bolt d’Oro, a top-three Fourth-Crop sire this year, now has seven stakes winners this term.
