Spendthrift Announces 2026 Stallions & Fees, Again Led by 6-Time Champion Sire Into Mischief
October 7, 2025

Spendthrift Farm has announced the stud fees for its roster of 29 stallions set to stand at the Lexington-based farm for the upcoming 2026 breeding season, once again led by North America’s reigning six-time champion General Sire, Into Mischief, who will stand for $250,000 stands and nurses.
“What Into Mischief is doing to add to his legacy—siring his record third Kentucky Derby winner and directly accounting for 10 Grade 1 victories so far, not to mention Grade 1 winners sired by four of his sons at stud this year—it just continues to make you realize that we’re witnessing one of the greatest sires of all time,” said Ned Toffey, general manager of Spendthrift. “We are now seeing the emergence of young stallions like Vekoma, Omaha Beach, and Yaupon who are also No. 1 in their respective sire crops. You could make the argument that we’re in the best of times at Spendthrift, which certainly has a long history that I greatly respect and don’t take lightly. It is extremely humbling and gratifying, and it makes you proud of the work that is being done here by the entire team from the top down, starting with Eric and Tammy Gustavson.”
In 2025, Into Mischief surpassed Tapit as the all-time leading sire by progeny earnings—becoming the first in history to exceed the $225 million mark—and is well on his way to a seventh straight General Sire title in North America. He is again the leader in nearly every significant category and currently holds around a $7 million earnings advantage over the No. 2 stallion in North America.
Into Mischief’s continent-leading 21 black type winners, 14 graded winners, and 5 new Grade 1 winners in 2025 feature the dual classic-winning 3-year-old and three-time G1 winner, Sovereignty—his record-tying third Kentucky Derby winner—and multiple Grade 1-winning 2-year-olds Ted Noffey and Tommy Jo. In the sales ring, Into Mischief remains one of the most in-demand stallions in the industry. His yearlings have averaged $806,764 from 51 sold to date in 2025, and he stands alone as the only stallion in North America with a yearling average that has exceeded half a million dollars each of the last 4 years, regardless of economic conditions. This year, Into Mischief is led by a dozen seven-figure sales progeny to date.
The Champion First-Crop Sire in 2024 and No. 1 Second-Crop Sire of 2025, Vekoma has experienced a meteoric rise in the North American stallion ranks that has landed him at a fee of $100,000 S&N entering 2026. Despite only two crops of racing age and 159 starters to date, he has already climbed to No. 11 on the General Sires List with more than $10 million in progeny earnings so far this year. The chestnut son of Candy Ride currently has the highest percentage of black type horses from starters—16.4 percent—and highest percentage of black type winners from starters—8.2 percent—among all North American sires in 2025.
Vekoma also ranks as the No. 2 Sire of 3-Year-Olds in North America from his first crop, only behind the aforementioned Into Mischief. Yet, his 12 black type-winning 3-year-olds are the most of any sire this year—including Into Mischief—and his 6 graded-winning 3-year-olds to date from that stellar debut crop are the co-highest among all North American sires.
The No. 1 Third-Crop Sire in 2025, Omaha Beach is another young stallion that continues his ascent among North American sires. The popular son of War Front will see his fee move to $75,000 S&N in 2026, up from $35,000. Through the first 9 months in 2025, Omaha Beach is having a banner year, currently ranking No. 13 on the General Sires List with just shy of $10 million in progeny earnings. He has sired 14 black type winners in 2025—top five among all North American sires and the only stallion of the five that stood for a fee under $175,000 this year.
Omaha Beach is led in 2025 by Breeders’ Cup contenders Kopion, a multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire from his debut crop, 3-year-old colt Nevada Beach, recent winner of the Goodwood S. (G1) at Santa Anita over older horses to earn a berth into the $7 million Classic, and Grade 3-winning 2-year-old colt Desert Gate, recent runner-up in the American Pharoah S. (G1) at Santa Anita from Omaha Beach’s third crop.
No. 1 First-Crop Sire Yaupon gives Spendthrift the current top sire on the General Sires List, Third-Crop Sires List, Second-Crop Sires List, and Freshman Sires List in 2025, and marks yet another young sire on the rise for the farm. The dark bay son of the late Uncle Mo will stand the 2026 season for $60,000 S&N, up from $25,000 this year.
Yaupon is dominating North America’s freshmen in nearly every category and is currently more than $600,000 ahead of his closest pursuer by progeny earnings. With his first runners earning more than $1.5 million so far, he also ranks in the top five among all North American sires by 2-year-old earnings. Yaupon also leads his class with 18 juvenile winners, 8 black type juveniles, 5 black type-winning juveniles, and 3 “TDN Rising Stars” according to the Thoroughbred Daily News. Yaupon is looking to become Spendthrift’s fourth consecutive No. 1 First-Crop Sire.
Spendthrift recently announced that it will welcome multiple Grade 1-winning juvenile Chancer McPatrick to the stallion roster in 2026. The 2024 Hopeful S. (G1) & Champagne S. (G1) winner by McKinzie will make his final start in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Del Mar. His introductory fee will be announced upon retirement.
Champions Forte and National Treasure will stand their respective third and second seasons for a fee of $35,000 S&N in 2026. Forte will be represented by his first crop of weanlings selling next month at Fasig-Tipton and Keeneland. National Treasure enters 2026 after covering a full book his first year at stud.
Classic winner Dornoch will also be entering his second season of stud duty following a strong first book this year. The multiple Grade 1-winning 3-year-old and top son of Good Magic will stand for $30,000 S&N in 2026.
Champion Jackie’s Warrior, proven sire Bolt d’Oro, and popular young sire Taiba will all stand for $25,000 S&N. Jackie’s Warrior was well received with his first crop of yearlings in 2025, ranking in top 3 currently by average among a sire class with lofty expectations. His yearlings have averaged $254,081 from 66 sold to date, only under Flightline and Life Is Good who stood for six-figure introductory fees.
Bolt d’Oro, the champion freshman sire in 2022, has enjoyed a rock-solid 2025, led by a 3-year-old crop that has featured 6 black type winners—ranking him in the top 7 among all sires in North America in that category. The leading son of Medaglia d’Oro also saw the resurgence of his Grade 1-winning filly Tamara, who recently captured the Chillingworth S. (G3) at Santa Anita in impressive fashion and is being pointed to the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1).
Like Forte, Taiba will have his highly-anticipated first crop of weanlings selling next month. The only 3-time Grade 1 winner by Gun Runner at stud, Taiba will be one of 10 Spendthrift stallion with a fee of $25,000 or higher in 2026.
Maximus Mischief, who is quickly emerging as one of Into Mischief’s best sons at stud, will stand for $20,000 S&N in 2026 after siring a pair of Grade 1-winning colts in 2025. Multiple Grade 1 winner Raging Torrent captured the storied Metropolitan Handicap (G1) at Saratoga, and, more recently, leading 2-year-old colt Intrepido won the American Pharoah S. (G1) at Santa Anita to earn a berth into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).
Stallions participating in Spendthrift’s renowned Safe Bet Program for 2026 are Greatest Honour and Mo Donegal. Both will be represented by their first crop of 2-year-olds to race, and the Safe Bet Program guarantees breeders a graded stakes winner in 2026, or the stud fee would not be owed for any foal resulting from a 2026 cover to those stallions. In the last two years, successful young sires like Thousand Words and Rock Your World have participated in the Safe Bet Program.
Greatest Honour, an early favorite for the 2021 Kentucky Derby, won the Fountain of Youth S. (G2) at Gulfstream and stands as one of Tapit’s best-bred sons at stud, with Broodmare of the Year and dual classic producer Better Than Honour as his second dam. Grade 1 winner Mo Donegal was a Grade 2-winning juvenile and one of only two classic-winning 3-year-olds by Uncle Mo, along with Nyquist. Today, Mo Donegal sired the session-topper at the OBS October Yearling Sale after a first-crop filly hammered for $240,000.
“We still have a lot to look forward to this year, including what is shaping up to be the best representation by our stallions that we’ve had in a Breeders’ Cup,” said Toffey. “It’s an exciting time, and we are energized to announce stud fees and get to work.”
