Spendthrift Farm tabbed as finalist for leading owner of 2025

January 6, 2026

The NTRA released the 2025 Eclipse Award finalists on Jan. 4, and Spendthrift Farm was named as one of three contenders for the Leading Owner award.

The NTRA also stated that the winners will be announced on FanDuel TV, and other outlets, during the 55th Annual Resolute Racing Eclipse Awards, presented by John Deere, The Jockey Club and the NTRA, on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

From 119 starts last year, the horses owned solely by the farm posted a record of 32-9-15, with earnings of $5,051,885, the highest total in stats dating back to 2000.

The stable star of 2025 was the homebred Ted Noffey, undefeated winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), Breeders’ Futurity (G1) and Hopeful S. (G1). Ted Noffey is an overwhelming favorite to win the 2-year-old male Eclipse.

The 2-year-old filly Tommy Jo won a pair of Grade 1s, the Spinaway S. (G1) and the Alcibiades S. (G1). Like Ted Noffey, she is by Into Mischief.

Another of Spendthrift’s dynamic 2-year-olds was Further Ado, who broke his maiden by an astounding 20 lengths at Keeneland, then went on to take the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2).

Kopion, a daughter of Spendthrift stallion Omaha Beach, won the Derby City Distaff (G1) and Santa Monica S. (G2) and was retired to Spendthrift at the end of last year with over $1.2 million in earnings.

Rounding out the farm’s graded winners in 2025 are Tamara and Brave Deb, both Grade 3 winners at Santa Anita Park. Tamara, now 5 and another of the farm’s homebreds by Bolt d’Oro, won the Del Mar Debutante (G1) at two. She also joined the Spendthrift broodmare band this year. Brave Deb, a daughter of Authentic also bred by Spendthrift, was a 2-year-old debut winner in early September before winning the Surfer Girl S. (G3).
