Taiba weanlings in high demand at November sales

November 6, 2025

Taiba, the only 3-time Grade 1 winning 3-year old-by Gun Runner, had his first-crop weanlings represented at the November breeding stock sales in Lexington, led by a $385,000 colt at each of the major sales.

At Fasig-Tipton’s “Night of the Stars” Sale, Taiba had 5 weanlings catalogued at the prestigious sale, with 4 of them meeting their reserves including a $385,000 colt from the Taylor Made Sales consignment.

Sold as Hip 46, the good-looking chestnut was purchased by Stardust Ventures. Out of Sassy Beast, by The Big Beast, the colt was bred in Kentucky by Capri Bloodstock & Hartley DeRenzo Thoroughbreds and came with plenty of pedigree updates. His family includes current stakes winners Obliteration and Pure Class.

The Fasig-Tipton sale also had Hip 49, a filly by Taiba out of Spanx Legacy sell for $275,000 to Aubrey Bloodstock from the Wynnstay Consignment.

Over at the Keeneland November Sale, there were some familiar faces attempting to get their hands on a weanling from the debut crop of the brilliant Taiba, including Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports fame.

Under the name of his racing stable Go Go Greys, Portnoy knocked down the winning bid of $385,000 for hip 699 – a gray colt, of course – to lead the way for Taiba at the renowned Keeneland sale. Agent BSW/Crow signed the ticket on Portnoy’s behalf.

Out of the Mulholland Springs consignment, the grand-looking colt is out of the First Samurai mare Bet She Wins. He was bred in Kentucky by Mulholland Springs, Dr. Sherry L Talowsky & Bastille Farm.

Taiba also had a $250,000 colt at Keeneland November, as hip 449 hammered to En Fuego Stables. Out of the Tale of the Cat mare Julia’s Kitty, the colt was consigned by Garrencasey Sales and hails from from the family of multiple GSW Mr. Money and G1 winner Well Armed.

Taiba is set to stand stud in 2026 for a fee of $25,000 S&N.
