November 24, 2024
Printer’s Alley relished stretching out to two turns Sunday at Gulfstream Park as the 2-year-old Thousand Words colt came home a half-length winner in the one mile and 70-yard maiden special weight contest.
Thousand Words, a top-five First-Crop sire, now has a total of 17 individual winners and five stakes horses. Leading his black type list are Adirondack S. (G3) winner The Queens M G and Churchill Downs Debutante S. winner Vodka With a Twist.
Printer’s Alley drew the outside post in the field of 10 and was forced to go three-wide around the first bend. He was third entering the backstretch and continued to stay well off the rail entering the final turn. He took the lead nearing the quarter pole and held on gamely to hold off Spirit of the Law.
The winner is trained by Todd Pletcher for Harrell Ventures LLC and was bred in Florida by Loren Nichols.
