Tommy Jo a flashy Saratoga TDN ‘Rising Star’ for Into Mischief
July 26, 2025
As a prelude to Sovereignty winning the Jim Dandy S. (G2) later on the card, Into Mischief picked up his 53rd lifetime TDN ‘Rising Star’ when Tommy Jo rolled to a 3 ¾-length maiden special weight win Saturday at Saratoga.
The debuting Spendthrift Farm homebred 2-year-old was simply stellar in the six-furlong race. After getting bumped soundly at the start, Tommy Jo about four lengths off the lead down the backstretch. Going into the turn, she suddenly accelerated, swooping past horses and taking command before turning into the homestretch. In a flash, she opened up a four-length lead and coasted home, finishing up in 1:11.24 on fast track.
Pedigree notes from the TDN
Tommy Jo’s dam Mother Mother, a fellow ‘Rising Star’ after a runaway debut win for Bob Baffert at Del Mar in the summer of 2018, was a two-time stakes winner and also hit the board in a trio of Grade I events. She brought $1.8 million from Spendthrift Farm at the 2020 FTKNOV sale. She was bred to Vekoma for 2026. Mother Mother is a half-sister to GI Kentucky Derby runner-up Commanding Curve.
