Undefeated Authentic filly dominates Seeking the Ante S.

Iron Orchard toyed with her competition for the second time in as many starts in Friday’s $150,000 Seeking the Ante S. at Saratoga, rolling home a 6 ¾-length winner in the six-furlong contest.
The 2-year-old daughter of Authentic is the fifth stakes winner of the year for her sire, who is currently third on the Second-Crop sire list with over $3.8 million in progeny earnings.
As she did in her 5 ½-length debut win at Saratoga on July 3, Iron Orchard went to the lead immediately on Friday. Grazie was within a length of her after a half-mile in :45.36, but soon was far behind as Iron Orchard as she pulled away at will from the field at the top of the stretch. Hand-ridden and eased up at the finish, she stopped the timer in 1:10.68.
“She’s just lightning fast,” said trainer Danny Gargan. “I wanted to get this, and she looks like she shows everything in the mornings like she’ll stretch. I wanted to get one more race in her before we take on the open company, so there’s a big chance I run her there [in the one-mile Oct. 4 GI Frizette Stakes at Aqueduct].
Owned by Edward Childs and R. A. Hill Stable, Iron Orchard has earned $132,000 in her two wins. The winner was bred by Pine Ridge Stable LLC and sold for $500,000 at the OBS Spring 2-year-old sale in April.
