Undefeated Moon Swag takes stakes debut

Moon Swag, a 2-year-old Malibu Moon filly, came with a late rush to defeat colts in the $50,000 Manzano S. at Albuquerque Downs on Saturday to run her record to a perfect 2-for-2.
In midpack most of the six-furlong trip, she came seven-wide into the stretch and took command in the final sixteenth to win by three-quarters of a length.
The winner is owned by Brad King, Jim Cone, Scott Bryant, and Stan & Suzanne Kirby.
Bred by Spendthrift Farm, Moon Swag is out of Davona Dale S. (G2) winner Yara, who has a yearling by Brody’s Cause and was bred to Gormley in 2020.
Malibu Moon has had an excellent September, with Come Dancing kicking off the month winning the Honorable Miss S. (G2) and Moon Over Miami winning the $432,450 Dueling Grounds Derby on Sept. 10 at Kentucky Downs.
