Undefeated Yaupon colt romps by eight in Inaugural S.
December 6, 2025

Solitude Dude powered his way to an eight-length victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Inaugural S. at Tampa Bay Downs, the second blowout win in as many starts for the 2-year-old Yaupon colt.
Solitude Dude is the eighth stakes winner this year, and one of 30 individual winners, for his sire. Both numbers top the First-Crop Sire list.
After breaking his maiden by 9 ¼-length in his Nov. 1 debut at Gulfstream Park, Solitude Dude was a no-doubt-about-it winner once again in Saturday’s six-furlong sprint. Super Kick took the lead down the backstretch, with Solitude Dude poised in second. Going into the turn, Solitude Dude easily came alongside and rolled past the pacesetter. Under a hand ride the entire trip, the dark bay widened through the lane and won eased up in a snappy 1:09.07 on the fast track.
Solitude Dude has earned $84,000 in his two victories for owner Chris Fountoukis. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Martha Buckner & Matthew Ernst and sold for $300,000 to his trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr. at the 2025 OBS June sale.
The first foal out of After the Party, Solitude Dude hails from the family of 2010 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Super Saver and Las Virgenes S. (G1) winner Callback.
