Vekoma’s Lovely Grey confirmed for Friday’s Kentucky Oaks (G1)
April 27, 2026

Lovely Grey’s connections decided on Monday morning that the 3-year-old Vekoma filly would run in Friday’s Kentucky Oaks (G1) rather than the Edgewood S. (G2) on the same day.
Lovely Grey, who was first on the Oaks also-eligible list, was able to draw in the race after the scratch of Bottle of Rouge.
Though she has just a maiden win to her credit, Lovely Grey has performed very admirably in her latest two starts, the Cincinnati Trophy S. and Bourbonette Oaks, both at Turfway Park. The latter was particularly noteworthy. She was well off very slow fractions in the early stages, then made a six-wide move to rally for second.
Lovely Grey is trained by Kelsey Danner and will be ridden by Dylan Davis when she breaks from post 14.
Owned by Mike Portnoy’s Go Go Greys Stable LLC, Lovely Grey was bred in Kentucky by Joann Adams & Katy Lee, LLC.
The Oaks will be run on Friday, May 1st. For the first time in history the Kentucky Oaks will be run at night. As race 13 in the stakes-filled card, the Oaks has a scheduled post time of 8:40 pm ET and can be seen on the NBC family of networks.
