Yaupon filly named TDN Rising Star in sparkling Keeneland debut

Local Knowledge, carrying the Spendthrift Farm colors, overcame an extremely wide trip to break her maiden at first asking as well as being named the third TDN Rising Star for leading First-Crop sire Yaupon.
Yaupon has a total of 18 individual winners and five stakes winners, leading the First-Crop list in both categories.
Breaking from post 11, Local Knowledge would have no option but to run out in the middle of the track down the backstretch. Entering the turn some six-wide, she rallied swiftly to be within two lengths of the lead at the top of the stretch. She took the lead in mid-stretch and was hand-ridden to the wire to win by 1 ¼-lengths in 1:10.23 on the fast track.
Bred in Kentucky by Stoneriggs Farm, Local Knowledge sold to Spendthrift for $625,000 at the 2025 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale.
