Yaupon is among the top five First-Crop sires by yearling average, currently at $212,600.
Leading the way for the Spendthrift stallion on Thursday was hip No. 1129, one of the last horses through the ring that day. Consigned by Betz Thoroughbreds, Inc., agent, the colt went to West Bloodstock, agent for Spendthrift Farm and Repole Stable.
The dark bay colt is out of Grade 1-placed Connie and Michael and is a half-brother to graded winner Curly Jack.
Earlier in the session hip No. 905, a filly consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, went to Cheyenne Stables LLC. Another dark bay, the filly is a half-sister to Grade 2-placed Sonic Brees and her third dam is Grade 1 winner Marley Vale.
