Ny Traffic adds $100,000 Chocolate Town S. to resume

June 17, 2022

Cross Traffic’s veteran stakes winner Ny Traffic was a deceptively easy winner of the $100,000 Chocolate Town S. on Friday evening at Penn National, winning the six-furlong affair by a length in a very solid 1:09.64 [WATCH RACE].

The 5-year-old gray or roan was confidently ridden from his outside post in the field of nine. After breaking very well, he eased back slightly for the backstretch run. He moved closer to the front while in the three path on the turn, then easily took over the top spot just outside the quarter pole.

Beren, the early pacesetter, appeared to take the lead in midstretch, but Ny Traffic disposed him in the final strides to win by a length.

Ny Traffic now has three stakes wins and placed in five other added-money events, most notably when he was beaten just a nose in the 2020 Haskell Inv. (G1) by eventual Horse of the Year Authentic.

Owned by John Fanelli, Cash is King LLC, LC Racing LLC, Paul Braverman and Team Hanley, Ny Traffic sports a record of 6-4-2 in 19 starts and has earned $873,340. He was bred in New York by Brian Culnan.

Cross Traffic’s biggest crop to date are 2-year-olds of 2022. The champion freshman sire of 2018, Cross Traffic stands at Spendthrift Farm for $7,500.
