Pair of Maximus Mischief 2yos post sub 10-second works at OBS

A colt and a filly from the first crop of Maximus Mischief broke the 10-second barrier during Thursday’s session of the Under Tack Show for the upcoming OBS March 2-year-olds in Training sale.

First on the track was hip No. 421, a colt consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, agent, who worked a furlong in :09 4/5.

The bay Kentucky-bred is out of Denali Tizadream, who is a half-sister to stakes winners Tax Refund and Sophia’s Song. His second dam, Dreamscape, is a sister to two-time champion Housebuster

“We have quite a few of those,” Torie Gladwell said of Maximus Mischief. “He’s really stamping them, the four or five of them that we have. They have the big white flashy blaze, which I love. They are good sized and put together well. The thing that I love about them the most is their personalities. They are pretty chill, laid back Into Mischief-type horses who just go out and do their job. They have a very strong hind leg and good muscle.”

A short time later hip No. 456 posted an identical time. The bay filly, who is consigned by Dark Star Thoroughbreds, is the first foal out of stakes-placed Exploden Moonshine.

The OBS sale’s first of three sessions begins on Monday at 11:00 am. ET. Maximus Mischief has 18 lots scheduled to sell. The precocious son of Into Mischief, who won the Remsen S. (G2) at two, bred an average of 187 mares his first three seasons at stud. His 2023 fee is $7,500 live foal.
