Race Day colt fastest of the week at OBS

A colt from the first crop of multiple graded stakes winner Race Day blazed a quarter-mile in :20 3/5 during Saturday’s Under Tack Show for the upcoming OBS June 2-year-old sale, tying the mark for the fastest work of the week at the distance (VIDEO).

The colt, hip No. 706, is consigned by Hawks Nest LLC and will sell during Thursday’s session of the June 12-14 sale. The juvenile is out of Queen Brianna, a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Rockport Harbor.

Hip No. 706 was not the only Race Day to have a noteworthy breeze during the Under Tack Show. Two of his juveniles turned in furlong breezes in 10 seconds flat. Hip No. 40, selling Wednesday, is consigned by Top Line Sales, agent (VIDEO). The colt is the second foal out of Annabird and a half-brother to Malibu Moon filly Movie Score, a winner at two. He comes from the same family as two-time Canadian Horse of the Year Chief Bearhart.

Also going 10 seconds flat was hip No. 825, a filly consigned by Bobby Dodd, agent (VIDEO). The filly’s family includes the likes of champion Lady Eli and graded winners Spiced Perfection and Changing Ways.

Race Day is participating in Spendthrift’s Safe Bet program, which assures breeders that a stallion’s first crop of two-year-olds will have at least one Graded/Group stakes winner in 2019, or the breeder will be completely relieved of the stud fee for his or her impending foal in 2020.
