Rosedale tops Saturday double for Itsmyluckyday

August 4, 2018

Rosedale’s late surge carried the filly to a debut maiden special weight victory at Gulfstream Park, the first of two winners on the Saturday card for top-10 First-Crop sire Itsmyluckyday, who now has a total of six freshman winners.

Rosedale was a half-dozen lengths off the lead until the final furlong, when she gobbled up the ground to come home a three-quarter length winner, getting the five furlongs in :58.92. The winner is owned by Rio Vista Stables and was bred in Kentucky by Fedai Kahraman. The filly’s dam Show Me the Roses is a sister to champion 2-year-old colt Johannesburg.

About two hours later on the card, Itsmyluckycharm broke her maiden by a similar margin and the same distance. The Laura Plesa homebred is out of Hard Hat, a half-sister to $3 million earner Albert the Great and stakes winners Sheer Bliss and Watch the Bird.
