Silvercents prevails in La. Cup Juvenile Fillies

August 4, 2018

Leading First-Crop sire Goldencents got his second stakes winner on Saturday when Silvercents fought her way to a three-quarter length win in the $60,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies at Louisiana Downs [WATCH RACE].

Silvercents, second in the $100,000 Texas Futurity at Lone Star Park on July 15, improved her overall record to 2-1-1 in four starts for Terry Eoff and Johnny Evans.

In a race that was tightly contested most of the way, Silvercents was tucked between and behind horses through the first half mile. She finally found clear running in the three path after entering the homestretch, and proceeded to make her way to the lead, then hold off Raising the Ante, by fellow freshman Spendthrift sire Cross Traffic, to secure the win.

The winner was bred by Steve Holliday and is out of multiple stakes winner Carl’s Frosty Girl, who has also produced two-time stakes winner My Miss Chiff.

Goldencents is also the sire of D. S. Shine Futurity winner Pickett and has seven individual winners from his first crop, leading all Freshman Sires of 2018.
