Steve Asmussen: “That’s what makes him the fastest horse in the world”

With another Breeders’ Cup passed, we look back on the special career of one of the fastest winners in Breeders’ Cup history – the mighty Mitole.

Just days after Mitole’s last race in the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Sprint-G1, we went behind the scenes with Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen as he shared some of his final moments with his superstar pupil at the stable before Mitole headed to Spendthrift to take up stud duty.

Now two years later, Mitole’s highly anticipated first crop of weanlings will make their debut next week at the Fasig-Tipton November and Keeneland November sales.
