Strong August finish for Goldencents

September 1, 2018

Goldencents padded his lead atop the 2018 First-Crop Sire list with a pair of maiden winners on the final two days of August.

Goldencents now has 11 individual winners this year, including stakes winners Silvercents and Pickett, and is nearing a half-million dollars in progeny earnings.

Closing out the month for their sire were Towa, a winner at Gulfstream Park on Aug. 30, and Missmachupicchu, who got her initial win at Del Mar on Aug. 31.

Towa, owned by PVC Stables and Allen Iwinski (also his trainer), is the second foal out of Chenin Blanco, who is a half-sister to Eclipse Champion Sprinter Lost in the Fog. Towa was bred in Kentucky by Dixiana Farms.

Missmachupicchu dominated her 5 1/2-furlong contest, winning by 5 3/4-lengths for owner/breeder W C Racing Inc. The bay filly, who was making her debut, is out of Maxnmacy, a sister to four-time stakes winner Sierra Sweetie.
