Undefeated Jackpot Baby gets the money in Gaylord Memorial S.

September 25, 2022

Goldencents got his second stakes winner of the weekend Sunday at Remington Park when Jackpot Baby won the E L Gaylord Memorial S. by one length over Mor Spirit’s Mor Lively.

The win comes one day after Thats Right took the Turf Monster S. (G3) at Parx. Goldencents, who leads the 2022 Fifth-Crop sire list by winners and wins, now has five stakes winners and 16 stakes horses this year.

Jackpot Baby, who won her debut by 4 ¾-lengths on Sept. 9, was never more than a couple of lengths from the lead after breaking from post seven. She was forced to go four-wide on the turn, yet was within a length of the lead turning for home. Mor Lively dug in gamely, but Jackpot Baby was going the better of the two in the final furlong and got the win under a drive (WATCH RACE).

The winner is trained, owned and bred by C R Trout. She is the first foal out of Va Va Va Boombaby, a stakes-placed daughter of Scat Baby, whose sister Shotgun Gulch won the Madison S. (G1) at Keeneland.
