Well-connected Goldencents colt tabbed for $230,000 at OBS

A well-bred colt by two-time Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner Goldencents brought a winning bid of $230,000 during Wednesday’s session of the OBS Spring 2-year-olds in Training sale.

Consigned by Gene Ricio, agent, the chestnut juvenile sold to Shepherd Equine Advisors, agent for Larry Hirsch.

The colt’s dam, Giant Review, has produced a pair of winners, including Bluebirds Over, who won last year’s Grey S. (G3) at Woodbine. This is also the family of Grade 1 winners Another Review, No Review, Cavorting and Clariere.

Previously, Vortex Racing purchased this colt for $100,000 at the 2022 Fasig-Tipton July Yearling sale.

Goldencents’ progeny have earned nearly $2.5 million to date this year. He has stakes performers on three continents in 2023 and a trio of stakes winners in the U. S. A top-25 stallion, he stands for $10,000 live foal.
