Well-related Mitole filly her sire’s 16th winner

October 12, 2023

Mitole moved into second on the First-Crop sire list with 16 individual winners following Life’s Joy’s game victory in an Oct. 12 maiden special weight race at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Mitole is one of only three freshman sires with multiple stakes winners, and just one of two with a graded stakes winner. His 2024 fee will be announced later this autumn.

Life’s Joy was head-to-head for the lead with Musical Diva before she began to pull away at the top of the stretch. She fended off several challenges in the lane to win the 5 ½-furlong contest by a half-length.

Trained by Bill Mott for Deb Oxley, Life’s Joy sold to her owner for $300,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling sale. She was bred by Town & Country Horse Farms, LLC. Her unraced dam Beholden is also the dam of graded stakes winner Brazen Persuasion, as well as stakes winners Thankful and Behold de Buy.
