Where Paradise Lay wins Star de Naskra S. in stakes debut

Into Mischief got his 13th stakes winner and remarkable 35th stakes horse of 2019 on Saturday when Where Paradise Lay battled to a half-length victory in the $75,000 Star de Naskra S. at Laurel Park.
After facing older horses in allowance competition last time out, the 3-year-old colt was back among his own age group for Saturday’s six-furlong contest. Tucked behind horses on the rail for the first half-mile, the bay colt came through an opening in upper stretch to assume command, then held off the late closers to secure the win in 1:10.69 on a fast main track.
Where Paradise Lay is owned by his breeder Sagamore Farms. He is the second foal out of Walkwithapurpose, who won three stakes for Sagamore.
“Our team works so hard every day,” Sagamore chief of staff Jocelyn Brooks said, “and to have not just a homebred but a second generation homebred follow in his mom’s footsteps and win big here at Laurel, on Maryland Pride Day, probably a team that has as much pride as anybody in Maryland coming right from our owner. We’re so proud of him and of our entire team and Stan Hough and the job he did getting him ready. It’s just a huge day for us.”
Into Mischief, the nation’s leading sire, is closing in on $11 million in progeny earnings this year, nearly $1 million more than any other sire standing in North America.
