Wicked Title digs in valiantly to win Saratoga MdSpWt

August 22, 2019

Wicked Title never gave up despite intense pressure the length of the Saratoga stretch to come away the winner by a nose over Raggedy Annie in a $75,000 maiden special weight race for 2-year-old fillies on Thursday, with Project Whiskey just another nose back in third (VIDEO).

The filly is Wicked Strong’s sixth winner from his first crop of runners, numbering among the top 10 of all freshman sires.

The stage for the dramatic stretch drive was set early on in the seven-furlong affair, with the eventual top three battling for the lead the entire trip. Wicked Title, on the inside, had the lead until mid-stretch, when she faded slightly, then gamely re-rallied to grab the lead in the final few strides.

The winner is trained by Chad Summers, who co-owns the filly with M. Scott Summers and Jay Oringer. She was bred by Millennium Farms.
