Winners continue to roll in for Flat Out

November 24, 2017

Cheponara scored a convincing 4 1/4-length maiden win Thanksgiving Day at Churchill Downs to become the third winner in the past two days for freshman sire Flat Out.

The Spendthrift stallion has been among the most popular in the breeding shed his first four years, with an average book exceeding 150 mares per year. He has 17 individual winners thus far in 2017, third-best on the First-Crop Sire list.

Cheponara was in hand for the first six-furlongs of the one-mile contest, then easily pulled clear at the top of the stretch to win with plenty in reserve.

The winner was bred by Kendall Hansen Racing & 3480 Equine LLP. The dark bay filly’s third dam Bonnie’s Poker is also the dam of Hall of Famer and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Silver Charm.
