With three stakes winners, Into Mischief off to hot start again in 2024

January 19, 2024

When Espionage won the Fort Bliss S. on Jan. 19, he became the third stakes winner of the new year for Into Mischief. The five-time champion sire has started 2024 in typical fashion and leads the General Sire list with over $1 million in earnings and 22 individual winners to date.

Espionage, who won his first stakes last autumn, took the six-furlong Fort Bliss by one length. After tracking the pace in the three path most of the way, the 6-year-old hit his best stride in the final furlong and surged past the pacesetters to win going away (VIDEO).

Espionage is owned by Doug Gourley, Maureen Fincher and Leroy Fincher, the latter also his trainer. The bay’s record now stands at 7-9-2 in 23 starts, with earnings of $272,810. Bred by WinStar Farm, Espionage is out of Grade 3 winner Harlington’s Rose.
