Mitole’s top-class sprinter extended his stakes-winning streak to four Saturday at Pimlico with a front-running victory in the $150,000 Maryland Sprint S. (G3).

The 4-year-old led at every point of call in the six-furlong dash. Epic Ride was his closest pursuer the entire trip, but could never get within a length of the speedy pacesetter, who posted a half-mile of :45.90 and finished up a one-length winner in 1:10.39 on a fast track.

“How hard he ran the last three times and then shipping him, I was worried,” said trainer Steve Asmussen. “But when he broke like that, he was himself. There were pretty quick horses in there. But when he breaks like that, it’s pretty obvious who’s going to be on the lead.”

Booth has won seven of his 11 lifetime starts and has earned $851,191. His current win streak includes victories in the Count Fleet Sprint H. (G3) and Whitmore S. (G3).

Booth is owned by William Heiligbrodt, Corinne Heiligbrodt, Jackpot Farm and Whispering Oaks Farm LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Clearsky Farms. The chestnut colt is a half-brother to Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) winner Bright Future and Grade 2 winner Musical Mischief.

Mitole is one of four Spendthrift stallions who currently own the top four spots on this year’s Third-Crop sire list, and leads Omaha Beach, Vino Rosso and Maximus Mischief with three graded stakes winners to his credit in 2025.
