Omaha Beach leads Spendthrift sweep of 2025 Third-Crop Sire list

With Omaha Beach topping the list, Spendthrift stallions took the top four spots on the 2025 Third-Crop sire list. Omaha Beach was followed by Mitole, Vino Rosso and Maximus Mischief, respectively.
Omaha Beach led the list in every category. His five graded stakes winners included Nevada Beach, winner of the Goodwood S. (G1) and Kopion, winner of the Derby City Distaff (G1). The latter recently joined the Spendthrift broodmare band. Omaha Beach had a remarkable 31 stakes horses overall for the year, while no other stallion had more than 20. His 16 stakes winners were six more than Maximus Mischief, who was second with 10.
Mitole had a banner year, topped by Shisospicy winning the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1), while Vino Rosso accounted for stakes winners in the States and Australia. Maximus Mischief was the only second-crop sire other than Omaha Beach to have two Grade 1 winners in 2025.
The pipeline remains strong for Omaha Beach, with an average of 186 mares bred over his last three seasons. He is standing in 2026 for $75,000 S&N.
