Incredibolt creating backside buzz for Kentucky Derby 152
April 29, 2026
Bolt d’Oro’s Virginia Derby winner Incredibolt has caught the eyes of many folks on the Churchill Downs backside with his strong daily gallops as he trains for the May 2nd Kentucky Derby (G1).
The dark bay 3-year-old has trained forwardly since his four-length win in the March 14tgh Virginia Derby. Incredibolt has solid Churchill Downs credentials as well, breaking his maiden and winning the Street Sense S. (G3) over the Churchill oval last autumn.
Incredibolt’s lone Churchill Downs work came on April 26, when he zipped through four furlongs in :47 flat, the second fastest of 71 that day.
“They both looked happy and had their ears pricked,” trainer Riley Mott, who also trains the Yaupon colt Albus for the Derby, said of the works. “They traveled well. Finished strong and galloped out well. They are two different horses and this was a typical work for them.”
Like Albus, Incredibolt is owned by Pin Oak Stud. He has won three of five starts and earned $498,681. Incredibolt was bred in Kentucky by Deann Baer and Greg Baer DVM.
As he has been in all of his races, Incredibolt will be ridden by Jamie Torres when he breaks from post 11.
The Derby will be run at 6:57 pm ET and can be seen on the NBC family of networks.
Bolt d’Oro has accounted for nine stakes horses this year and is in the top three on the 2026 Fifth-Crop sire list. The Spendthrift stallion also has graded stakes-placed Corona de Oro on the Derby also-eligible list and would need three scratches to draw into the race.
