Miss Authentic proves to be the real deal in first stakes win
July 18, 2026
Miss Authentic closed from fifth with a furlong to run to win Saturday’s $100,000 Maggie L. Walker S. at Colonial Downs, earning the 4-year-old Authentic filly her first stakes win.
Currently in fourth on this year’s Fourth-Crop sire list, Authentic has a total of nine stakes horses in 2026.
Amalfi Drive set a very rapid pace, and despite six furlongs in 1:08.44, looked strong on the lead well into the stretch. Miss Authentic, who was several lengths back at the top of the lane, moved off the fence and began to find her best stride in midstretch. She rolled past horses with purpose and won by a neck in 1:34.26 for the mile on the fast track.
With the win, Miss Authentic is now 4-3-4 in 15 starts and has earned $292,556 for Twin Oaks Bloodstock.
Miss Authentic, who was bred by Warren Harang, is out of the stakes winner Vertical Vision and is a half-sister to multiple graded winner Vertical Oak.
