Greatest Honour filly overcomes many obstacles to score at first asking

July 31, 2026

Vanta overcame trouble during several stages of her five-furlong maiden special weight debut July 31 at Del Mar to ultimately prevail by 1 ¼-lengths and give First-Crop sire Greatest Honour his fifth winner.

Vanta’s trouble started right out of the gate, when she got away slowly and was some eight lengths back in the first furlong. Just before entering the turn, she began to accelerate quickly then encountered trouble on the turn, having to check on multiple occasions while along the inside.

After turning for home, she had to alter course substantially to get around a slowing horse, then dove back down to the rail and blew past Her Names Charlie and Golden Bee to secure the win.

Vanta is owned by Dutch Girl Holdings LLC and Irving Ventures LLC and sold to her owners for $370,000 at the 2026 OBS March 2-year-old sale. The bay filly was bred in New York by Sequel Thoroughbreds LLC, Lakland Farm & Truly Thoroughbreds Inc.
