Jackie’s Warrior gets first turf winner in Saratoga MdSpWt

A change in surface and stretching out in distance worked out perfectly for Let Em Know, who delivered a very game victory in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight affair for 2-year-olds on the Saratoga turf.

Let Em Know is the seventh individual winner for Jackie’s Warrior, who is currently fourth on the First-Crop sire list.

After a good start, Let Em Know made his way up into fourth as the field rounded the first turn. He held his spot down the backstretch, then launched a three-wide bid on the final bid. He was on even terms with the leader Not Ever (IRE) turning for home. Not Ever began to fade, but in the final furlong Let Em Know faced strong a challenge from Roscoe Goose. Despite the late closer’s best efforts, Let Em Know fended him off to win by a head.

“He’s definitely a fighter,” said Edgard Zayas of his mount. “[Trainer Whit Beckman] told me he worked him on the turf (a :51 4/5 move for four furlongs Aug. 9) and he worked really good. He has more speed naturally than what he showed in his first race.”

Roscoe Goose, who was a $600,000 purchase at this year’s OBS March sale, is owned by Front Page Equestrian LLC, Anthony Tate and  Joe Pickerrell. The bay colt was bred in Kentucky by Dixiana Farms LLC.
